President Barack Obama was recently in Australia announcing the permanent deployment of some troops at the top end of Australia. (I am in Australia).
Listening to him answering questions, all I could think to myself was that he is one exceptionally intelligent president, a far cry from his predecessor. I really like Barack Obama, yes I know the people in America are hurting economy wise at the moment. And he may not be very popular. But I really like the man, especially when listening to him being questioned about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
He mentioned that he would be pulling all of the troops out of Iraq by the end of the year. He mentioned how he was against the Iraq war all along.
More details can be found here. This is a war that has dragged on for 9 years. A war that has resulted in many deaths. A war which was based on lies. And a war which was not easy for a president to end, especially when there are infrastructure companies and oil companies who stand to profit from America staying there, and no doubt they would have been lobbying for America to stay there. So I think he deserves credit for that.
In addition, he said he was committed to withdrawing the American troops from Afghanistan. He said they could not withdraw straight away, but they would withdraw, acknowledging that they would be leaving a less than ideal situation.
I believe these two things will ease the deficit that America is running up, and could help the economy in the long run. It is also worthy to note that President Obama has not started any new wars so far during his presidency. If he loses, I think it will be due to unemployment levels in America. I do think his performance on the issue of World Peace has been good so far.
Thank you for this blog post. We at the I Declare World Peace project believe this is another indicator in the rise of global peace consciousness. Reducing troop levels will reduce a certain type of violence, chisch can only be good for peace prospects.
Your blog post is in itself is a trade off with current time evil doings in my opinion – many people believing in World Peace would agree.

I think you are seriously wrong in intentioning a President would deserve credit for not ending a war because of american infrastructure companies and oil companies.
I think you have misunderstood what I have said.
I am saying that Barack Obama has done well to end the war in Iraq, despite the opposition from those within his political party and oil/infrastructure companies who would like America to stay in Iraq. I have seen a news broadcast where even after the war in Iraq had ended, a politician said they would have liked to have stayed in Iraq.
Seeing corporations determine world policy is something I am totally against.
Yes, corporations should not determine world policy. There is too much of that in the world at this time. In the United States, about 3/4 of the people do not want any of these wars to continue. America is supposed to be a nation that is governed by the people, and it was that way in the past. With that many people wanting the wars to end, they continue to go on, so it is evident that America is no longer governed by the people.
There was talk from Obama about ending war before he was elected. There has been more talk from him about it since he was elected. Notice, many people are still being killed. The end of war comes when the people, worldwide, are at peace within themselves, when their individual lives have become peaceful between their neighbors, their spouses, and their children. That peace reflects in the outward manifestation. This state of peace is manifesting now, and the numbers of people in an inward state of peace are increasing much like a snowball that gathers more snow as it rolls downhill.
You can and you may not forget that Barack Obama (I like him as well) can NOT decide on his own. I’m trying to sketch the situation here, because indeed HE wanted to end the war and INDEED even a blind fool is able to know that it is not the real case. HOWEVER, it are the Republicans with a majority that can decide on that matter… Obama – Democrat – can only try to reduce as much as possible. That is the real and honest story. I’m sorry, but according to the Republicans (and not only them – a whole lot of other political entities and groups) you can fight for peace. To me, if fighting for peace is possible, than fucking for virginity as well.. (AHUM AHUM Alighty then Hu!?).
Obama did and still does the best he can , just keep in mind that he is not a dictator with the ability to overrule everyone and everything. I want Worldpeace as well, but me alone can only try to create a peaceful atmosphere in my direct location. I don’t have that much of a power voice according to the global politics (again unfortunately).
You know who should be here on earth again? A very true example of HOW you can create peace? Queen Noor of Jordanië – the queen of peace.. often forgotten (and that is a shame!). If we had more people like Noor on important spots, we would not have this conversation. But that will not give people Power and will not pay them way too high salaries… So, the leaders decide that world peace is not the way to go – because of the loss of power, wealth and money that logically will follow. Best example is Syria… China and Russia gave there NO you can not help (veto) whilst children (CHILDREN between 0-18) were molested, tortured and abused. You tell me – what other thing than economical reasons are there?? not humanity, not peace, not …
The Syria story – I will never forget. And Russia and China – what goes around, comes around – You’ll see – Karma, she’s a bitch (but in this case I don’t care)
